Many homes quietly lose money every month because of small issues most homeowners never check. Dirty vents, blocked drains, and air leaks can slowly drive up energy bills.

🛠 Weekly Home Maintenance Check

This week take 5 minutes to check these:

Turn the fan on and hold a piece of toilet paper near it, the paper should stick to the vent from suction and if airflow is weak, dust buildup may be blocking it
Remove the vent cover and vacuum the dust from the fan and grill.

2. Check Attic Insulation Gaps

Look around attic edges and corners, check for areas where insulation is thin or missing and look for exposed ceiling drywall between joists.
Small gaps can often be filled with additional insulation to improve energy efficiency.

3. Check Downspouts for Proper Drainage

Look where each downspout ends, make sure water flows away from the house and check for clogs or crushed extensions
Attach a simple downspout extension to direct water at least 4–6 feet away from your foundation.

⚡ 10-Second Fix

Walk around your home and check that exterior vents (dryer, bathroom, range hood) aren’t blocked by leaves or debris.

🧰 Tool I Actually Use

A simple magnetic stud finder helps you locate studs behind drywall for mounting shelves, TVs, and heavy items safely.

💰 Tool Deal of the Week

A drill and impact driver are two of the most useful tools a homeowner can own for repairs, furniture, and DIY projects. This DEWALT combo kit is currently about 42% off, which is a great deal for a quality set that will last for years.
